Air Conditioning Services
We only install equipment that we supply. The law is changing rapidly with respect to Air Conditioning and the onus is being placed on the end-user (you!) to ensure that compliance with the law under the F-Gas Legislation is met.
We supply and install premium brand, top quality, air conditioning equipment in most homes and buildings. We primarily serve the commercial property and office market, but we also install domestically to home owners although, again, we only supply premium quality equipment which can stretch the funds somewhat in a home installation. We are just being honest, and we will happily supply you with an estimate if you want to have an air conditioning installation in your home.

What Are the Benefits of Air Conditioning
Suffice to say that you can obtain a comfortable temperature all year round with air conditioning. Even today many people do not realise that air conditioning can heat as well as cool a room. In fact the heating, which is provided by a heat pump, is actually more efficient than the cooling in many units – but both aspects are super efficient in the latest A rated equipment.
In the top end equipment available you can achieve efficiency gains when compared to a domestic gas boiler of around 6 times or better. Meaning that the AC unit is six times more efficient at delivering heat from the energy it consumes than a boiler. It goes without saying that energy bills normally see a huge saving when you make the switch to air conditioning.
A list of the main savings/benefits can be summarised as:
- Superior efficiency over gas central heating
- Heat just one or two rooms without heating the whole building
- Get cooling as well as heating and still make savings on an annual basis
- Significantly more Carbon Friendly
- Have an all year round pleasant temperature – e.g. in a conservatory
- Substantial savings on your energy bills
- Boost the Energy Efficiency Rank of your Home/Office
- Domestic installations means a 5% VAT rate
For businesses the installation of air conditioning systems throughout your business is very tax efficient. Using the Governments Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme which is operated by the Carbon Trust you can write off the entire cost of the installation in a single years’ accounts without the need to depreciate the capital cost over a number of years. The equipment you install must be on the Energy Technology List to qualify, all of the equipment that we supply and install is on this list.
Businesses can also benefit from a 0% Interest Free 4 Year Loan from the Carbon Trust to install air conditioning for heating and cooling. Note that you must install the heat pump type equipment, which also provides heating – incredibly efficiently, and means that a business can also benefit from greatly reduced heating bills. The 0% Loan Facility also applies to Public Sector installation projects.
Service and Maintenance
The servicing of air conditioning equipment can be a legal requirement if you have over 3kg of Gas within your system you need to ensure that you have it maintained at least once per year and more frequently if you have a lot of equipment on site, according to the following guideline: in all instances it refers to total weight of Gas in all systems on the site combined
Where there is no legal requirement, you should still maintain annually, it is common sense to check the effectiveness of your equipment and also to have the cooling system and coils cleaned and disinfected.
- Up to 3Kg of Gas – No legal requirement.
- >3Kg but <30Kg - Requires annual maintenance record
- >30Kg but <300Kg - Requires 6 monthly maintenance record
- >300Kg – Requires 3 monthly maintenance record
In all instances the maintenance records must clearly show the results of a whole system leak check and visual inspection.
Legal Requirements Businesses Need To Know
- See F-Gas Regulations for further information
- F-Gas Timetable Aspects entering EU/UK law.
- Official Public Sector Information (OPSI)
Note that from 2011, Businesses will be required by law to carry out an Energy Efficiency Survey prior to having Air Conditioning installed in their premises. Act Now to avoid the additional costs.
Due to the changes in the law in recent years we no longer offer to install equipment that falls into certain criteria, as below:
- Equipment not supplied by us
- Cheap brand, budget range equipment
- Equipment that is not A rated Energy Efficient
- Equipment that is not from a top brand manufacturer
We will unfortunately decline your enquiry if the equipment you are looking to install falls into one of these criterion. It is in the interest of our customers that we only install equipment that works all year round, year after year after year.
Cheap equipment really isn’t worth the false savings that you perceive in the beginning – it will always come back to bite you later and will ultimately cost you more in repairs and breakdowns over the life of ownership, by which time cheap kit will have been out of action for most of the time when you really need it. Our advice to customers is always -
if you can’t afford decent brand equipment then manage without air conditioning
- this really is quality advice because broken down equipment does nothing but gather dust.
